It seems like it’s been forever since we’ve seen a refund check and are excited to announce that today is finally the opening day of the 2016 tax season! That’s right, bring your W-2s your 1099s your charitable donations, boxes of receipts, and your government issued ID to any one of our veteran owned and operated GI Tax locations. Our former Marines, Army officers and Navy men and women are ready to prepare your taxes for the federal and state governments.

We are getting excited over here at GI Tax! Next week marks the opening day for tax season and we wanted to help you get prepared. We’re always encouraging our customers to stay organized all year so that tax season is easy-peasy. We do realize, however, that’s often easier said than done. To further prepare you for tax season here are the four things you NEED if you want to rock your tax appointment.

In a recent report issued by the Government Accountability Office, the IRS reports paying out over $5.8 billion in fraudulent refunds. Though the IRS was able to prevent $24.2 billion in fraudulent identity theft refunds in 2013, the need to protect yourself from identity theft is as important as ever.
